lookbook

welcome to my lookbook. this is where i post my favorite looks of the season, inspiration, and the things i really want to buy…but probably shouldn’t. enjoy!

lookbook-peonies-please

i was sooo excited last night when i walked into the grocery store (looking for milk) and discovered peonies for sale in the floral department! yes! peonies! they are my all-time favorite flower, so even though i was only supposed to spend $5, i ended up splurging and bought a few stems of pink peonies. i’m really amazed at how delicate they are; they sort of fell apart when i started to arrange them, and they bloomed in less than an hour! regardless, they are now beautifully displayed on my dining room table. i just hope thumper (the devil cat) doesn’t knock them over. but i digress.

after the excitement wore off, i went online shopping browsing. i came across this beautiful pencey tank dress, and i swear that if i never buy anything else in my life i want this dress!! and, ok — a pair of platform ankle boots to match — but seriously, i would sacrifice any other potential purchases for the rest of the season to get my hands on this thing! bloomingdales agrees, they put a “must-have” sign next to it on their website. see?

colorful, crazy leggings are everywhere this season (could it be influence from lady gaga?)!! seems this trend is popular worldwide; metallic and multi-colored leggings are appearing in editorials everywhere, from australia to here in the states. i’m a big fan, but it’s important to exercise a certain level of restraint when it comes to wearing this trend. the key is to let the leggings do their thing without letting the rest of your outfit get in the way. understated is key, whether you’re talking accessories, tops, jackets, or shoes. mixing vintage-inspired jewelry into the mix will quickly transform this type of look from trendy to chic. the leggings here are from the awesome shopping site 80sPurple.com. plenty more where these came from! happy shopping

sometimes all it takes is an accessories update to transform your look from one season to the next. i love the look of a good quality handbag with inexpensive accessories – it creates a funky chic look that’s just plain stylish. i’m going nuts for this henna studded cuff; an old boss went to india and brought me back some gorgeous jewelry once, and this piece reminds me of the bangles and cuffs i wore all throughout the year.

i love to buy cute asian notebooks with captions that don’t make any sense. for example, the one i just bought has a picture of rainbows and sunshine and it says, “hope you have a sundy day!” well, if i were ever to have a “sundy day,” then i think it would be because i were wearing a great outfit like this. hot heels, adorable (and comfortable) dress and jacket, and to top it all off – inexpensive accessories.

love this jacket by alexander wang! the 3/4 sleeves and lightweight silk make it perfect for spring. truthfully, i would probably wear my leather jacket even if it were 100 degrees outside, but still, this is a nice alternative. a bit pricey, but it will pair well with virtually anything in your wardrobe. same goes for this awesome stone necklace. thank you god. for topshop.
